Deoleo appoints two new board members

Board of Directors welcomes two outstanding professional women as Directors, who together bring more than 40 years’ experience in Food & Beverage industry

Deoleo gains strength in once again reaffirming commitment to gender diversity, acknowledging essential role women play in its governance bodies

 

The Board of Directors of Deoleo, a world leader in the olive oil sector, has approved the appointments of April Adams-Redmond as Independent Director in July and Rocío Hervella today as a Proprietary Director.

With these appointments, Deoleo has added two new professionals to its board with extensive experience in the Food & Beverage sector and highly valuable expertise in areas that are key to the company’s strategic management. Their arrival represents further evidence of Deoleo’s commitment to gender diversity and of the progress the group is making to increase female participation in all of its governing entities. The Deoleo Board has one third Independent Directors and one third female Directors.

April Adams-Redmond: Extensive track record with global industry leaders

April Adams-Redmond currently serves as Global Vice President at Unilever PLC, where she is responsible for Knorr, Unilever’s largest brand in foods, and Unilever’s Scratch Cooking Aids portfolio. She has nearly 30 of years’ experience in consumer goods, having also held senior international leadership roles at The Coca-Cola Company, Diageo, and Kerry Foods. She has expertise in strategy, marketing, innovation and sustainability, all areas that fully align with Deoleo’s strategic priorities. Her career spans the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Redmond is an active fellow of the prestigious International Women’s Foundation where she completed advanced executive education on Leading Global Change at Insead. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications and Journalism with honours from Emerson College of Boston, USA, as well as a graduate diploma in Gastronomy from Australia’s University of Adelaide and Le Cordon Bleu.

Rocío Hervella: Entrepreneurial strength in Food & Beverage

Hervella’s impressive background in the Food and Beverage sector, as well as her entrepreneurial experience and long-term vision, are fully aligned with Deoleo’s priorities and will add tremendous value to the development of the group’s strategic priorities.

Ms Rocío is founder and CEO of Prosol, a leader in the coffee sector, with more than 20 years of experience there, and since January 2019 has also chaired the Spanish Coffee Association (AECAFE). She has further extensive experience in associated endeavours and for more than five years was vice president of the Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries, leading its efforts in internationalisation, innovation and environmental responsibility. She currently chairs the Castilla y León Family Business Association, whose members represent 20% of that Spanish region’s GDP.

She holds a degree in Law and an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa.
